What is the Lock & Key Awards?

Back in March this year, Lucardo was proud to host the return of the annual NERD event in Manchester. Standing for “Northern Escape Room Discussions,” the NERD group is made up of like-minded escape room owners and enthusiasts, who love to gather and share our love of the passion. It was a great night full of pizza, bowling, drinks, and escape room-themed chat – and as soon as it was over we knew we had to get planning the next one.

So, we’re back for 2024, bigger and better than ever!

If you are a member of the NERD group on Facebook, you may already be aware of our plans and how, for 2024, we’re doing things a little bit differently. NERD will be back for it’s biggest and best event to date, and we can’t wait to see you all there!

On 12th March, NERDs from around the country will once again meet at an exclusive event in the heart of Manchester, to mix, mingle, and discuss all things Escape Rooms. But, this time, we’re kicking it up a notch!

For the first time ever, NERD will play host to the Lock & Key awards - an elite ceremony to pay homage to the innovation and expertise in the escape room industry! Better still, this event will be hosted in collaboration with Toby Powell from Escape the Review, ensuring a fair and honest awarding process we can’t wait to be part of.

But, that’s not all the excitement planned for NERD next year. Alongside the awards, guests are also going to be treated to a hilarious, interactive, two-act Murder Mystery performance, hosted by After Dark. This fabulous company will be providing their act “Crime at Clue-Doh Manor” for us to solve. As escape game fans, surely you’ll be able to crack the case? I guess we’ll have to wait and see to find out!

This year, we’ve secured the awesome Bierkeller Manchester as our venue for the event. We listened to your feedback, and are excited to have a venue in the heart of the city, with fabulous transportation links and hotel options on the doorstep. Inside, we’ll have access to a private bar and a hot buffet, with a DJ, bar games, and even an indoor puzzle challenge to keep us entertained between the sleuthing and ceremonies.

Sounds great, right? But, we’re not done yet! This year, we’ll also be offering a VIP experience for the event, for those of you who really want to celebrate the night with style and swagger! Each VIP ticket includes a special lanyard, early access to the venue, speedier bar service, and a designated table in the heart of the excitement, with drinks.
