“I’m in an Escape Room and I Have No Idea What I’m Doing”

Answering YOUR Questions About What to Expect During Your Escape Experience!

A few days ago, I hosted a really lovely team at Lucardo. They were here to play one of my favourite games – Corruption – and, after I’d finished my safety briefing, one of the guests asked me a question I’d never heard before.

In fact, the more I thought about it, I realized just how fantastic a question it was. So much so, that there’ll probably be other new guests with the same concern, and that’s why we’re here today. I’m going to write a blog post to address it! I’ve heard feedback that some my previous FAQ blogs – such as the one about how to raise children to be mini escape room enthusiasts – have been popular posts, so I hope this one is helpful to readers, too.

And that brings me to our question of the day:

When I get in the room, will I know what I’m doing?

Now, I want to give you a resounding YES! However, anyone who has ever played more than one escape room across different sites will know that the answer isn’t always that easy. Have no fear, though, let’s unpack this amazing question together…

Missions

So, here at Lucardo, all our rooms have stories to them. Each of these stories presents a mission to the players, and that’s the aim of your game. Whether it’s finding a lost item, solving a mystery, or simply making your way out of the room on time, there will always be a task you have to accomplish.

That is what you’re meant to be doing. And, anyone who has ever played a game at Lucardo before will assure you, that we have the most inventive and fun-filled ways of letting you know exactly what your mission is!

Adrenaline

However, it’s true that you may find yourself locked in a room full of excitement and overwhelm, with so many locks and puzzles in front of you, that you may be unsure into which direction that adrenaline needs channelling.

But, that’s kind of all part of the fun!

Especially to players new to escape rooms, there may always be that feeling of walking into a puzzle-filled room, and thinking “oh heck, what do I do first?”. I still get that, and I’ve played a lot of rooms at this point!

Sometimes, that exciting overwhelm is one of the best parts of the game, and that clock ticking only adds to that adrenaline-fuelled panic. It’s a great feeling, and one of the reasons that escape rooms are proving to be so addictive among players.

Trust Your Game Master

Of course, we will never, ever, lock you in a room without telling you what you’re doing. But you’ll never be alone in the game either, as we will always be right there helping you along.

Whether you need a clue, a gentle push in the right direction, or just the assurance that you’ve got an ally on “the other side,” it’s always great to know that your friendly and dedicated game host will be with you every step of the way.

We just want you to have a good time, so we’re definitely not in the business of leaving you stranded. If you have questions about gameplay at any point during your experience, ask them. We’re on your team!

Conclusion (To Answer the Question!)

To conclude, yes, you should always know what you’re doing when in an escape room. Especially at Lucardo, where you’ll always have briefed with a unique story and task to accomplish!

However, you should always go into an escape experience expecting to be challenged. It won’t always be easy – but that’s all part of the fun.

I hope this article has been helpful and interesting, and can’t wait to hear more of your amazing questions now we’re in a fresh new year of escaping. Keep them coming, and we’ll look forward to locking you up soon!
