It’s spooky season! There’s a chill in the air, and there’s no better time to start planning some scary escape rooms.

If horror is your thing, then you’ve come to the right place. Here, we’ve gathered a selection of our favourite, must-do, terror escape rooms in the area. Dare you take a look? Read on!

Orphanage - Lucardo Manchester

Of course, we had to kick the blog off with a mention of Lucardo’s own creepy escape room experience: Orphanage. Set inside a dilapidated Victorian orphanage, teams are sure to pick up on something rather amiss. Why do those porcelain dolls’ eyes look like they’re following you? Who is this terrifying Matron everyone’s talking about? What really happened here all those years ago?

Operation Clearsafe – Project Breakout in Brighouse

How could we not give a shoutout to Yorkshire’s biggest escape room: Operation Clearsafe, created by our friends at Project Breakout. Can you figure out what sort of horrific experiments are being conducted in this top-secret facility? Do you really want to know? Book this terrifying game, set across a series of intricate and highly-thematic rooms, and find out!

The great thing about this game is that the fear factor is amendable to suit teams looking for a PG, 15, or 18+ experience. It’ll be creepy no matter what, but if you want to be terrified… just let them know!

Butcher – Escapologic in Nottingham

When we hear people talking about the scariest escape rooms in the UK, Butcher always comes up. Usually followed by cold sweats, pale faces, and shudders. Sound intriguing?

OK, this room is terrifying. Promising to “play heavily on your fears”, the self-confessed “mad genius” behind Escapologic has created a room sure to have you screaming and quaking in fear… even after the game has ended. Buckets of gore? Check. Palpable menace? Check. A bloodthirst maniac chasing after you? Eek... best watch out. This one certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. Proceed with caution!

Séance – Enigma Wakefield

Doesn’t the word “possession” just send a shiver right down your spine? Well, if you feel like being creeped right out this Halloween, you must check out Séance over at Enigma in Wakefield. Another Yorkshire fright-fest, this demonic room “includes genuine Arcane artefacts” and other terrifying memorabilia, with an 18+ warning and promise of jump-scares galore. Add that to your scare list this season!

Forsaken - Breakout Manchester

Finally, if you’re looking for a challenge, Forsaken at Breakout Manchester is the game for you. While Breakout offer a range of creepy rooms (such as the slasher Captured and the tense Crimson Lake Motel), the fear behind Forsaken is all to do with ritualistic creepiness, made all the more tense by the eerie “cabin in the woods”-style setting. Plus, as Forsaken has officially been declared the most difficult out of all the rooms at Breakout Manchester, we’re sure this game won’t be easy. Will your team make it out alive? I sure hope so!
