Fun Things to do in Rossendale This Winter

The Christmas season may be over, but the fun doesn’t have to stop in Rawtenstall. Brighten up your back-to-work blues by planning a cosy winter activity at one of these amazing places around the Rossendale valley – there’s so much to see and do around here!

Soak Up Some Local Culture

If you’ve not visited some of the museums and galleries around Rossendale yet, you’re missing out! From The Whitaker in Rawtenstall to Helmshore Textile Museum, there’s lot of culture to explore, all right on our doorstep. Take a look online to see what’s going on, you never just know what you might learn next!

Do Something Outdoorsy…

There are few activities as wintery as skiing, and we can always recommend a head up to The Hill (formerly Ski Rossendale) for some fun, snowy sports.

Alternatively, you can wrap up warm to enjoy the beautiful scenery around our valley, and explore some of the many picturesque walking trails up hills, around reservoirs, and through the parks nearby.

…or Stay Indoors!

Like being out and about but this cold, rainy winter weather getting you down? Don’t worry – there’s enough indoor activities to keep you busy and warm at the same time!

If you’ve got the January fitness buzz, there so much to try at the Adrenaline Centre, from team games to climbing, and more. Why not catch a dance class at a studio nearby, or any other exercise that takes your fancy?

Or, if you’d prefer something quieter, why not check out some of the craftier activities available in the area? You’ve got pottery painting, chocolate workshops, bath bomb making… why not try something new this weekend?

Go Shopping

At Lucardo, we feel very lucky to have such an amazing array of shops right on our doorstep, run by friendly and welcoming owners. Rawtenstall high street alone is full of everything from unique gifts to boutique designs. If you’re thrifty, we also have several fantastic charity shops, where you can be sure to bag a bargain while helping out a great cause.

So, make 2023 your year of shopping local, and come and give us a visit!

Grab a Bite to Eat, or Plan a Night Out

There’s so much choice of food and drink in Rawtenstall alone, that you’ll never be short of options! You can cosy up in a coffee shop for a brew and a cake during the day, enjoy a meal out somewhere

exciting in the evening, then kick back with a drink at night, with enough choices to keep you busy all through winter.

At Lucardo, we love visiting our friends at La Turka Bistro for a delicious Mediterranean bite, and there’s always mouth-watering treats to try at Rawtenstall Market on Thursdays and Saturdays, too.

Come night-time, the options just keep coming, with countless bars, pubs, and clubs to enjoy. Whatever your vibe, there’ll always be a spot for you in Rawtenstall. We particularly enjoy the quiz night at Bees Knees, a great pick if you’re feeling competitive.

Play an Escape Room

Of course, we were going to put our personal favourite activity on our list! Lucardo Rawtenstall is always open for bookings, and we have some great games suitable for everyone. Whether you’re looking to dive into a world of magic, take an adventure into history, or do some corrupt policing, Lucardo is a fantastic way of “escaping” from the cold this season. Although, if you can’t quite let go of Christmas just yet, that’s ok too, as our festive room Claus for Concern remains open through the end of January!
